Lynsey

Position: Volunteer Guide

Hi! I’m Lynsey – a welsh, garden and dog-lover mum of two who has very much gone on a radical journey from a primary school teacher in mainstream education for over ten years to completely home educating (choosing an ‘unschooling’ approach) for both of my wonderful children.

My holistic values and principles surrounding education are firmly based on guidance through gentle parenting, trauma informed and low demand approaches and through having absolute faith in children’s autonomy.

For me, well-being HAS to be fundamental. I offer my own
children quality experiences in the world around them in order to expose them to rich learning opportunities. This is always enveloped with plenty of Hygee and togetherness, filled with rich and meaningful questions and conversations. Connection is at the heart of ALL I do and I am a firm believer in growing intrinsic motivation through equality between adults and children with positive relationships and trust.

I have a depth of knowledge of SEND – Neurodivergence is in our family! This means I’m an advocate for inclusion for all. I am a steering group member for the Salford Parent Carer Forum and I am also on the SIASS Advisory Board for Salford.

At Sunrose, I really hope to create a stronger community in Salford for home-educated families and children who are looking for connection with others alike. I strive to make changes to the way home education is viewed as it is just utterly AMAZING!
